Inovis Energy, Inc.: a Spotlight on Culture

Spotlight on culture, Inovis employees and logo

Culture is one of the single most important pillars of company success. Today’s employees don’t just want a job; they want a career they feel good about and proud of. Clients don’t just want service; they want service with a genuine smile, delivered by someone who truly loves what they do. These aspects of success start at the top: with company culture.

At Inovis Energy, Inc., we know the power culture can have. We’ve worked tirelessly to build a company that prioritizes a positive one not only for our employees, but also for our partners and clients. From the support and celebration of our employees, to the transparency and reliability we guarantee our clients and partners, our culture is central to everything we do.

Don’t take our word for it! See what people have to say about the different aspects of our culture, and why they love working with us.

A Supportive Environment

First and foremost, Inovis is synonymous with support. We take a vested interest in the lives of our employees, and strive to support them in becoming the best versions of themselves. Whether it’s upskilling or continuing their education, we encourage the efforts of everyone in our organization to grow—and it’s something our employees value.

“For me, when it comes to company culture, what’s important is being encouraged and supported to continue learning and development,” says Maria Sosa, Solutions Consultant (Mid-Atlantic). “It’s easy to be comfortable in a role. It’s hard but very rewarding to be pushed out of your comfort zone; however, it’s much easier when you know you have support of management and teammates that want you to be successful.”

At Inovis, we’ve found that support begets support. When you lend time, energy, attention and effort to help others succeed, they turn around and pay it forward. If that support comes from the top-down, it reaches every corner of the company and touches every person, no matter their job or their aspirations.

“When you can return the encouragement and support, the result is great teamwork,” says Maria. “We can all learn from each other, but it’s only possible in an environment where it’s ok to ask questions and ask for help.” This is the type of environment Inovis strives to create.

Restoring the Work-Life Balance

At Inovis, work-life balance is more than a buzzword: it’s a core part of our culture. It’s about more than making sure people can leave their work at work. It’s about providing the support that enables our employees to feel good about their lives while they’re not working. We don’t believe in the rigidity that some larger companies tend to abide by, because we’ve seen the positive results that come from trusting our people to do their best work, their way.

“I came from a Fortune 500 company, and moving to a smaller company made me nervous. Since my first day at Inovis, I’ve felt a tremendous amount of support from management, colleagues and partners,” says Shaun Marino, Solutions Consultant (Southeast). “Gabe and Dalton have a management style of guiding you in the right direction but, at the same time, not micro-managing and knowing that you can put your own spin on what you’ve been taught.”

What’s the Secret?

The secret to work-life balance? Trust. When we hire someone to do a job, the expectation is that they’ll do it and do it right. Because trust is so engrained in our culture, it creates an environment of “freedom” for our employees—one that allows them to do their best work. They feel good going home at the end of the day, knowing they’ve given it their all.

“Inovis stands by the phrase ‘work hard, play hard.’ They trust that you know the work that needs to be done and are trusting that you will get it done,” says Shaun. “I remember when I was interviewing, Gabe said to me ‘Shaun, if you want to go golfing every day at 3pm, we don’t care—but, you know the work needs to get done before that.’ That really threw me for a loop and has helped me develop an appreciation for the work-life balance and company culture at Inovis.”

There’s a lot to love about working for a company that respects your right to a work-life balance. Inovis wants to be that company.

All About Authenticity

Authenticity is central to positive company culture. There needs to be meaningful effort behind every positive action: from supporting and congratulating employee triumphs, to overcoming adversity and improving as a team. At Inovis, we’re relentlessly authentic, and we’re proud of what this authenticity has done for our employees and their outlook.

“I really like the respect and trust management gives: that we as employees will do our best work for the company,” says Derrick Borges, Project Engineer. “I’ve worked for companies in the past where it always felt like management thought the employees were just ‘coasting.’ If I’m paid fairly and treated well, which I am on both accounts, then I’ll work to the best of my ability for the company’s sake—and ultimately my benefit. It’s awesome that management realizes that.”

There’s a certain transparency that comes from practicing what you preach. As a company, Inovis strives to do what we say we will, and perform to the best of our abilities. We set the example we want our employees to follow. In doing so, we’ll do everything we can as a company to help them be the best versions of themselves—at work, on the job, and beyond.

“Management is genuinely invested in the employees here. They realize we have lives outside of work and show compassion/enthusiasm for issues that we face outside of the workplace. I feel that translates into an integrated and rewarding work environment,” says Derrick.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to company culture, Inovis Energy, Inc. passionately believes that you get out what you put in. Invest in people and they’ll repay you in kind. In creating a culture of support, balance and trust, we’ve enabled our employees to be exceptional at what they do. Therefore, they are proud of the results they produce.

Part of that equation is rooted in our progressive approach to remaining on the leading edge of our industry. As team member Greg Horne, Solutions Consultant (Northeast), puts it, at Inovis, we are “always on top of the next idea in energy efficiency.”
Our name, Inovis, was borne out of INtegrity, InnOVation, and VISion. They’re more than the characteristics of our company: they’re part of what’s powering our culture, too.
