PROJECT OVERVIEW

Mecklenburg Paint, a woman-owned business in Charlotte, NC, embarked on a sustainable mission – electrification of their van fleet by 2025.   This decision came with challenges that required innovative solutions for installing an array of level 2 charging stations with limited available power.  For more information, check out our press release on this project.

The Inovis Energy/Atom Power solution was flexible, expandable, and was heads above what other competitors were offering. The project execution went extremely well. Inovis has been a great partner on the project, and we are very excited about the Atom Power technology.”

THE ASK

Mecklenburg Paint and Inovis Energy connected through IREM’s Western North Carolina chapter. With plans to progressively convert their fleet, the immediate challenge was installing eight EV charging stations. However, the utility company had concerns with existing power capacity, and recommended an additional service be added. Undeniably, this would have added more to the cost and timeline that the customer, and Inovis, were comfortable with.

THE SOLUTION

Inovis Energy proposed the Atom Power charging solution – a dynamic system employing a central charging panel with cutting-edge solid-state breakers. Consequently, this solution allows managed power distribution, capping it to a pre-set maximum load. Essentially, a system bypassing the need for additional power sources. Accordingly, Mecklenburg Paint was able to get the number of charging stations suitable for their expected electric fleet size.
